Clarity is the product
Most of what a product leader actually produces is not features. It is the clarity that lets everyone else move.
You spend a week on a spec and it changes nothing. You spend twenty minutes in a room naming the one decision everyone was tiptoeing around, and by that afternoon three teams that had been stuck for a month are moving. You did not build anything. You removed the fog.
It is tempting to measure a product leader by output: features shipped, docs written, roadmaps drawn. But most of that is not the job. The job is that a dozen smart people are standing still because the problem is ambiguous, the priority is unspoken, or the decision has no owner. What they are waiting on is not a feature. It is clarity, and clarity delivered at the right moment moves more than any feature you could have built instead.
This is why the best product work often looks like nothing. A sentence that names the real problem. A decision made out loud so people stop hedging against three possible futures. A no that frees a team from a bet they were quietly dreading. None of it ships. All of it unblocks. The output is other people’s velocity, which is invisible on your own scorecard and enormous on the org’s.
The trap is that clarity is uncomfortable to produce. Removing ambiguity means committing, and committing means you can be wrong in a way that a hedged, complicated plan lets you avoid. So people hide behind complexity and call it thoroughness. The leader willing to say the simple, decisive, possibly-wrong thing is doing the actual product work. Clarity is the product. The features are just where it eventually shows up.

What to do with it
Before you build the thing, ask what people are actually waiting on. Often it is not a feature. It is a decision nobody has made, a problem nobody has named, or a priority nobody has said out loud. Deliver that first. It is faster, it is harder, and it is the job.
